Calls for Former President George W. Bush to Endorse Vice President Kamala Harris Face Backlash
The pressure on former President George W. Bush to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential race is growing, with figures like his former Vice President Dick Cheney, his daughter Liz Cheney, and a handful of other establishment Republicans reportedly throwing their support behind her. The Harris campaign claims at least 200 Republicans have switched sides.
But the real question is: Why should Bush cave to this pressure? The American people have already rejected the failed policies of the left, and Bush’s refusal to endorse anyone is being seen by many as a wise decision. Yet, critics like appellate attorney Chris Truax are urging him to “man up” and back Harris. Truax argues in an op-ed for The Hill that Bush’s endorsement would influence so-called “Reagan Republicans” still clinging to the GOP. But what Truax and his ilk seem to ignore is that the Republican Party has evolved beyond the old establishment, embracing a new wave of populist leadership under Donald Trump.
Despite relentless attempts by the media and never-Trumpers to undermine Trump’s influence, millions of Americans continue to stand behind him. Truax claims that Bush’s endorsement could swing states like Pennsylvania and Georgia, but that’s wishful thinking. The truth is, the GOP is more united behind Trump than ever, and no amount of establishment endorsements will change that.
Bush’s spokesperson has clarified that the former president is no longer involved in presidential politics, and that’s likely for the best. After all, Bush’s foreign policy disasters and failed immigration policies contributed to the rise of Trump, as Americans sought a leader who would finally prioritize their interests.
Meanwhile, figures like Bill Kristol—who have long been out of touch with the Republican base—are once again calling on Bush to denounce Trump, citing baseless claims about the treatment of immigrants. Sen. JD Vance has been falsely attacked for bringing attention to the realities many Americans face, including the impact of unchecked immigration. Vance’s honesty about the suffering of American citizens should be applauded, not condemned, and he remains a critical voice against the left’s radical agenda.
What’s truly outrageous is the way the media and left-wing politicians are demonizing anyone who speaks the truth. They’ve concocted an entire narrative designed to smear Trump supporters while ignoring the real issues facing our country. Instead of focusing on the damage done by open borders, the radical left is pushing their identity politics to divide the nation further.
In the end, George W. Bush’s silence is a good thing. The American people don’t need another voice from the failed establishment backing the disastrous policies of Harris and Biden. Bush should continue to stay out of this race, allowing Trump to lead the charge for real American values, and for the people who have been ignored for too long by both Democrats and the GOP elite.
