Recently, discussions on social media and in the press have raised claims about a supposed three-step plan attributed to the Democratic Party. This plan, which has circulated through a tweet by Jesse Watters and conservative media outlets, alleges that the Democrats aim to:
Take over the media to manipulate public perception
Undermine or dismantle the Constitution
Dissolve the U.S. Supreme Court
Step 1: Taking Over the Media to Control Public Perception
According to Watters, the first step in this plan involves taking control of the media to “reprogram your brain” and manipulate public opinion. This kind of rhetoric aligns with concerns that media bias or corporate control over media can distort public narratives.
However, the reality is that the U.S. media landscape includes major networks such as CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC, each with different political leanings. A 2020 Pew Research Center report highlighted that American audiences perceive significant differences in how these outlets present information, with many viewers expressing concerns about bias. Nevertheless, there is no concrete evidence to suggest a coordinated effort by any political party to monopolize media control(Canada Free Press).
Step 2: Undermining or Dismantling the Constitution
The second step in this alleged plan is “tearing up” the Constitution, a statement that is both provocative and alarming. This could be a reaction to certain reform proposals from some Democratic figures. For example, discussions around the For the People Act, introduced in 2021, sought to enhance election transparency and voting rights. While blocked in the Senate, this bill aimed at improving democratic processes rather than undermining the Constitution(County Local News).
Another debated reform is the proposal to abolish the Electoral College, but this remains a reform of political systems, not an attempt to “tear up” the Constitution. Any change to the Constitution requires an extensive amendment process, involving a two-thirds majority in Congress and ratification by three-quarters of the states, making such radical shifts highly improbable.
Step 3: Dissolving the Supreme Court
The final step in the supposed plan, dissolving the Supreme Court, is likely a response to recent discussions on court reform. Some Democrats have floated the idea of expanding the number of justices in response to the conservative majority in the court, especially after the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling in 2022 that overturned the federal right to abortion(Washington Examiner).
There have also been criticisms of justices such as Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, related to allegations of ethical concerns and undisclosed relationships with wealthy donors. In response, discussions about imposing stricter ethical standards for the Supreme Court have surfaced, including in 2023, when calls were made for clearer rules on justices’ financial disclosures
In response to the extreme actions of the Democratic Party, President Donald Trump immediately spoke out to defend the foundation of America. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trump fiercely criticized the Democrats’ plan, asserting that they are attempting to undermine the Constitution and attack the fundamental freedoms of the American people. He emphasized that while the Democrats are plotting to destroy the nation’s core values, he will always stand strong to protect the Constitution and democracy.
Trump’s post called for the unity of patriots, stating that this battle is not just about politics but about defending the freedoms and rights of all American citizens. Trump, who has continually fought for the people, declared that he will not allow any force to harm the future of the country.
