J.D. Vance responds to Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris and her ‘childless cat lady’ signature
Donald Trump‘s running mate J.D. Vance dismissed the weight Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris for president, calling her a ‘billionaire celebrity’ who is ‘fundamentally disconnected’ after the megastar took a dig at the Ohio senator in her endorsement.
Swift revealed she would be voting for the Democratic presidential nominee following the high stakes presidential debate Tuesday night.
The global superstar signed her bombshell Instagram post ‘Childless Cat Lady’ which Vance once used to mock Democrats.
In an interview on Fox News Wednesday afternoon anchor Martha MacCallum noted the signature and asked the Republican vice presidential nominee about speaking to women voters who care about what the superstar thinks.
‘I don’t think most Americans, whether they like our music or fans of hers or not, are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans,’ the Ohio senator responded.

‘Look, when grocery prices go up by 20 percent, it hurts most Americans,’ Vance continued. ‘It doesn’t hurt Taylor Swift. When housing prices become unaffordable, it doesn’t affect Taylor Swift or any other billionaire. It does affect most middle class Americans all over our country.’
Some people online noted in response to the comments that Vance’s own running mate was also a celebrity billionaire.
Swift has a massive fanbase of Swifties and more than 283 million followers on Instagram. Her post endorsing Harris was liked more than nine million times in less than a day and could help drive support for Democrats.
Previous posts from the 34-year-old urging people to register to vote have been directly linked to an uptick in registrations as some of her biggest supporters closely monitor her every word.
Former President Donald Trump called into Fox News hours after Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris
Trump shook off Swift’s Harris endorsement Wednesday morning, claiming there was another NFL-linked prize he valued more.
‘I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better if you want to know the truth,’ Trump told Fox & Friends.
He was referring to Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes – a Taylor Swift friend who attended multiple games with the singer last season while they rooted for the team which includes Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Mahomes drew attention when she ‘liked’ a Trump post on his Instagram page, suggesting a political split between the friends.
‘She is a big Trump fan,’ Trump said in the interview, which followed a late night interview with Sean Hannity on the same network after a clash with Harris that had multiple conservative commentators giving the edge to his rival.
‘I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. She couldn’t — you couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. You look at Biden. You couldn’t possibly endorse him.’
He called Swift a ‘very liberal’ person and tried to brush off her backing Harris.
‘She seems to always endorse a Democrat she will probably pay a price for it in the marketplace. But, no. I like Brittany. I think Brittany is great. She got a lot of news last week. She’s is a big MAGA fan that’s the one I like more than Taylor Swift,’ Trump said.
Swift dramatically endorsed Kamala Harris just moments after the presidential debate in one of the biggest moments of the monumental night in the 2024 race.
The megastar made the announcement after the ABC showdown where Trump accused migrants of eating pets and said Democrats wanted to ‘execute babies’ in the ninth month of pregnancy.
The world has been waiting for the 34-year-old Pennsylvania native to weigh in on the election after she backed President Biden in 2020.
Swift strategically chose the first meeting between Trump and Harris to make it clear she was backing the Democrats with less than eight weeks to go before Election Day. She also slammed the former president for ‘falsely’ claiming her support with a slew of AI images.
The move capped off a positive night for Harris, who was widely declared the winner of the d.
The Trump campaign shrugged off the endorsement, claiming it’s further proof Swift is part of the ‘Democratic elite.’
On top of taking a dig at Vance with the ‘Childless Cat Lady’ signature, Swift also used an image of her with her cat in the post.
The singer said in her endorsement that that she was disturbed by false reports she had endorsed Trump.
‘I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,’ she wrote.
She signed her post ‘childless cat lady.’
The Trump campaign shrugged off the endorsement.
‘It’s further evidence that the Democrat Party, unfortunately, is the party of the wealthy elite,’ Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told DailyMail.com.
‘And Taylor Swift may make great music, but she does not understand the struggles of everyday, hardworking families, and President Trump is speaking on behalf of those hardworking, struggling families who don’t get the privilege, like Taylor Swift, of living in a gated community, who need their local police to be funded, who want their Second Amendment right to defend themselves and their family because they don’t have armed security like Taylor Swift has.’
Swift has endorsed before. She backed Joe Biden in the 2020 election. And in an interview in 2019 with The Guardian, Swift said she supported Hilary Clinton over Trump in the 2016 election and accused Trump of treating the presidency like ‘an autocracy.’
Taylor Swift posted her endorsement moments after Donald Trump and Kamala Harris finished their first debate
Her post describing her endorsement was lengthy:
‘Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country,’ Swift wrote.
‘Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth,’ she added.
She noted that ‘I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.’
‘I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story,’ she wrote.
She ended it: ‘With love and hope, Taylor Swift Childless Cat Lady.’
She featured her calico cat Benjamin Button. It is her third of three cats.
Tim Walz learned of the endorsement in real time during an interview on MSNBC.
‘I’m incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift,’ Walz said. ‘I say that as a fellow cat owner.’
‘That’s the type of courage we need in America,’ he added. ‘This is an opportunity Swifties: KamalaHarris.com – get over there.’
Harris stopped by a watch party after her debate with Trump. Her walk-off song was The Man by Swift.
Her team also shared the endorsement on social media with the line ‘ready for it,’ a reference to one of her songs.
Swift endorsed Kamala Harris after the debate
The singer, who is dating Chiefs player Travis Kelce, reportedly split from her friend Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick.
But the pair seemingly have pushed differing political views aside and were seen together at the U.S. Open over the weekend.
Mahomes liked some of Trump’s instagram posts, leading to speculation she supports the former president.
And she sent Instagram into meltdown after she liked a reply from a follower which said: ‘TRUMP-VANCE 2024’.
She also liked another message of support after she incited fury for initially liking a post from Trump about the November election.
‘Glad to see you aren’t backing down,’ the comment that she liked said. ‘We are all entitled to our own opinions and shouldn’t be bullied into submission.’
Trump thanked Mahomes for her support.
‘I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,’ Trump wrote on his Truth Social network earlier this month.
Swift faced blowback from some over her close friendship with Mahomes. The two women often hang out at games together and are frequent huggers.
Swift and Kelce joined the two Mahomes at the U.S. Open in New York. Swift got attacked by some fans for hugging Mahomes and faced pressure to clarify her own views on the presidential election.

Donald Trump’s campaign brushed off Taylor Swift’s endorsement of his Democratic rival
It’s unclear how influential Swift’s endorsement will be.
An NBC News poll from November found 40 percent of registered voters had positive views of Swift, while 16 percent had negative views.
