Trump Faces New Wave of Attacks as George Conway Funds Ads Featuring Alleged Assault Victims

In a calculated move aimed squarely at former President Donald Trump, lawyer George Conway—known for his vocal criticism of Trump—is backing new television ads featuring two women who have accused Trump of sexual assault. One of the women, Natasha Stoynoff, a former journalist for People magazine, shared a detailed account of an incident she claims took place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in 2005.

Stoynoff alleges that while interviewing Trump and his wife Melania—who was seven months pregnant at the time—Trump forcibly kissed her when they were alone. According to Stoynoff, Trump lured her into a room under the pretense of showing her a painting. The new ads are being strategically aired on the very channels Trump is known to frequent, including Fox News and ESPN, as well as in markets near his homes in Mar-a-Lago and Bedminster.

Trump, as usual, hasn’t remained silent. In a press conference just weeks ago, he addressed Stoynoff’s allegations, dismissing her account and praising the People magazine article she wrote as a “love story” about him and Melania. Trump’s tone shifted quickly, however, as he downplayed Stoynoff’s claims, referring to her as “whatever her name was” despite speaking at length about the article she had written.

This latest effort by Conway seems designed not just to remind women voters of the long-standing accusations against Trump, but also to hit the former president personally, knowing these ads will likely be seen by him. Conway’s strategy, however, isn’t just about sparking a reaction from Trump—it’s aimed at a broader electorate, particularly women, among whom Trump has historically struggled. Recent polling from CNN shows Trump trailing Vice President Kamala Harris by 10 points among female voters, numbers similar to his performance in the 2020 election.

As Trump courts women voters with promises of security and protection in his latest public appeals, Stoynoff and other women like her are speaking out again. “He is not a protector of women; he is a predator of women,” Stoynoff said during a televised interview. She emphasized that despite the risks involved in coming forward, she believes it’s critical to ensure that Trump does not return to the White House.

Trump has repeatedly denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, calling the women “liars” and dismissing their stories as fabrications. Nonetheless, Stoynoff remains hopeful that with younger voters who may not be as familiar with these past accusations, the ads could make a real impact.
