Taylor Swift made a cheeky Travis Kelce gesture during her Dublin show as she paid tribute to her boyfriend’s Kansas City Chiefs celebration – despite him not being at the show
Taylor Swift made a loving gesture in tribute to her boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce at her recent Eras Tour concert in Dublin.
Just days after Kelce appeared as a surprise guest during one of Swift’s shows at Wembley earlier this week, the pop star showed that he’s still on her mind despite him not being in the audience. The Super Bowl-winning tight end joined his beau on stage to the delight of her fans.
Although he wasn’t spotted in support or on the stage on Friday night, Swift acknowledged her NFL boyfriend as she made Kelce’s iconic celebration while performing ‘Midnight Rain’ off her Midnights album. Fan filmed footage posted on X captured the moment she produced the gesture during the emotional song about relationships.
Swift sang the words: “And he never thinks of me, except when I’m on TV” before she stuck her tongue out and gave a pretty awkward, but still touching, archer pose. She gave a cheeky smile to the crowd who reacted by erupting into cheer. Swift has previously made the move while performing her hit ‘So High School,’ a track that has been theorized to be about Kelce.
The song is filled with lyrics and references perceived to be about their relationship, most notably the line: ‘You know how to ball, I know Aristotle.’ Kelce also seemed to confirm its origin as he named it in his top three songs by his love, adding it has “a little bit of a sentimental meaning.”
Kelce was asked about suggestions that he appears in the song through those lyrics and admitted he thinks it’s about him but didn’t appear to definitely know, he replied while quoting the lyrics: “I think so, I think so, you know what I’m saying.”
The Chief star’s cameo came during Swift’s rendition of her hit ‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart’ as he ran out on stage wearing a top hat and tails and played the role of her savior and motivator as he picked Swift up off the floor as she acted exhausted. After helping her recover from her pretend heartbreak, Swift continued the show while Kelce cheered her on.
Swift’s impact on Kelce has been praised by ESPN presenter Pat McAfee, who insisted that she will be key to Kelce’s decision to continue his NFL career amid rumors he’s getting ready to call it time. “I think Taylor motivates him to continue to go,” McAfee said.
“I think he watches her do her thing, and he goes: ‘Holy s***, she sells out stadiums in every city around the entire world, she continues to make bangers, she’s hands-on in everything.’ He probably thinks, ‘Yes, this is exactly who I need to be around.’
“Because, you know they say you are the company you keep, and the company he’s keeping is taking over the world, pretty much, in an industry that I don’t think she was supposed to take over as fast as she certainly did.”
